Sonja's journey to becoming a car seat tech began when she was rear ended, while traveling with her toddler and newborn. Her vehicle was totalled and she was surprised to hear that most car seats are used, or installed, incorrectly from the first responders on scene. Proper car seat use saved her kids lives.
When a car seat tech course was offered in Airdrie she jumped at the chance to learn more about proper car seat use; at that time she certified through St. John's Ambulance. In 2015 she attended a CPSAC CPST training course. She's been with CPSAC ever since, and is currently training to be a car seat technician instructor (CPST-I).
Sonja's approach to car seat safety is based on best practises, but she also understands that a "one size fits all approach" doesn't work when it comes to working with families. She prides herself in offering non-judgemental support, and enjoys tackling challenging car seat situations.
When she's not out car seating Sonja lives in Airdrie, with her 3 kids and husband, She's an avid outdoor adventurist, and can be found hiking, snowshoeing, backpacking and camping, year round. She also enjoys gardening and yoga, and is a volunteer Scouter with her son's Scout troop in Airdrie.

Sonja has been very helpful and easily accessible. From picking out the right car seats for the particular vehicle to installation, she helped with the entire process. She was able to find a safe, practical solution to a problem we couldn’t have safely solved without her expertise.
